OPEN SPACE gallery, founded by Sherbert Magazine’s Kalene Rivers and Daniel Weise, has asked 125 artists to donate custom-designed totes to bring awareness to the amount of plastic bags used every year in an average household.
The average family brings home 1,000 plastic bags every year. It is time for us to switch from a disposable society to one which reduces, reuses and recycles. This show will help spread the message that we care about our planet and do not want to just consume until there is nothing left. We are certain that we will all make a difference.
The bags will be on display and available to purchase at OPEN SPACE from April 12th thru May 3rd and will also be available for sale online.

Here is a peek at an identity / collateral project I’ve been working on for 3 Little Birds Salon in Denver. The project is just about ready for print with a few tweaks here and there. I was pumped to hear how excited the girls were for the final version and to see young people striking out to start a business that aims to support the community in a fresh and creative way (visually and in mission). Obviously some of that was up to me to interpret and execute but it ultimately comes down to their business and involvement in the community itself. They are still working on getting their site put together and will surely be adding this beautiful logo to the facade of the building soon. Make sure to swing by their studio and get a trim from one of their “scissor ninjas” when you have some time to spare.

It is official, I am now on board with Sevnthsin as a Sr Designer. I am totally stoked to work with these guys and have had my eye on them since my arrival here in MPLS in March. It should be a lot of fun and a great chance to collaborate with some super talented guys. My start date is thankfully set to mid May. It’ll give me a good chance to finish up some freelance projects and rearrange my schedule. By no means does this mean I won’t continue to pursue freelance. I would love to keep some side projects flowing… Make sure to check out their site and work. I think it’s rad!

So if anyone in the MPLS area reads this little thing we call our blog, make sure to swing by First Amendment Gallery tonight for “Whose Piss is This” and possibly Umber Studios for the Andy DuCett, Ric Stultz, & Michael Joseph Winslow show. We missed a couple good ones last night, but shit, we can’t be everywhere all of the time. We’ll make sure to get pics tonight to show all of the slack asses what they missed.

This Saturday is the first of a quarterly event called Connoisseur here in Minneapolis. Presented by YouWorkForThem and HYPE, Connoisseur is a multi-media event featuring the hottest music, fashion, and art that MPLS has to offer (at least that’s what I’ve been told). Expect performances by DJ Asphalt Haynes along with Micheal Cina, Karl Frankowski, Mike the 2600 King and Benny Lojak. There is also a YouWorkForThem video premiere, visuals by Alpahsuede, and fashion performance by Hyperlush. All this is going down at Suburban World Theater and cost $10 to get in. Pre-sale tickets are available at Robot Love and Cliche.
I just hope we can scratch together enough change to get off our asses and party. Check the sneak peek mix from Cina. Total hotness fo real. Download that ish.

Holy sex panther! The cypher13 crew out of Boulder dropped a new site… and it looks amazing, they look amazing! Great use of flash, custom typefaces, and photography… all around just really well designed! Sometimes flash sites can get a little tedious… not here skeptic ones… the load times are minimal, and everything seems disgustingly appropriate… they did fanfuckingtastic job!!!!
The work they’ve been cranking out over the past year is also insane!… impressive! It’s rare that you see a design agency that is able to communicate their design vision in a way that empowers them… I think the cypher13 portfolio is a solid showcase of just that. They’ve made my heart smile! Cheers guys, you’ve been killing it!

Well I can’t speak for the other slackers (Josh & Celeste) but I’ve been busy crankin’ on a big apparel / footwear project and wrapping up an identity build. The apparel/footwear thing is all super secret right now, but I’ll keep ya posted. I’m thinking about redesigning my site again, but Celeste told me I shouldn’t talk about it because I brought it up once before… As expected, getting work in this new city is going slowly, but I’m meeting a lot of cool peeps and getting the ball rolling. It looks as though contract work is going to keep me pretty busy for a while, so I’m not worried ’bout a thang. I think it’s actually the first time I’m gonna have to schedule people and projects. Muahahahah!
