Crawlspace at Black Book Gallery

March 31st, 2011

Two of my favorite Colorado artists / people, husband and wife duo Jeremy Pruitt (THINKMULE™) and Melanie Pruitt (Deadly Daisy) will be showing new works this Friday as part of their show titled Crawlspace, which runs April 1st through April 29th at The Black Book Gallery here in Denver.

Melanie will be showing a fresh round of highly intricate black & white ink drawings inspired by the human form and organic patterns, Jeremy will provide a nice balance with his bold, layered, type and folk inspired sculpture work. I get geeked out every time these two show new work in public, notoriously reclusive, it’s always a treat to see how they explore and evolve as artists.

Crawlspace at Black Book Gallery opens April 1st @ 7PM : 555 Santa Fe Dr. Denver, Colorado 80204

Alright type nerds; this Saturday, London based artist, Eine, will be sharing his latest work at White Walls Gallery, here in SF. The opening reception for “Greatest” is March 12 from 7-11PM.

In conjunction to the Eine show at White Walls, Yumiko Kayukawa will be showing her work on the same night, next door, at Shooting Gallery.

An interesting 13 minutes or so, of information, you may or may not know, about the irregularly skilled artist, Banksy. It’s a short, but effective piece. Enjoy.

Shyama Golden – Home Sweet Brachiosaurus

February 9th, 2011

Shyama Golden‘s “Home Sweet Brachiosaurus” immediately sparked my imagination in a Wes Anderson sort of way.

Stop by Shyama’s vimeo page to check out a timelapse of the piece.

GestaltenTV – Shepard Fairey

January 20th, 2011

Shepard Fairey always has something interesting to say about freedom of speech or about the roll that art plays in society. He’s one of the few artists who I feel, can explain his motives and ambition so eloquently, without coming off as preachy or contrived.

Glen E Friedman

December 21st, 2010

Glen E. Friedman became one of the most important photographers of his generation, shooting skateboarders and musicians throughout the 1980s. During that period of time, Glen captured stills of some of the most iconic figures in the early counter culture movement in the United States. Doing so, almost entirely through the happenstance of association. Today, his photographs are celebrated as capturing the raw energy, ambition and rebellious nature of a generation lost to commercialization and popular culture.

The short above, documents his work for, “Fuck You All,” showing at 941Geary, here in San Francisco. Fuck You All will be showing until December 30th.

I’m sort of pissed that I missed the opening.
