I just discovered this artist, Chinza Dopeness, after revisiting the Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo Lab site. He’s got a pretty interesting style to say the least and the fact that he’s got the likes of the W+K crew backing him up I look forward to seeing more things from this guy in the future. Press Pause Play aims to answer or at least offer suggestion to the contemporary question about the creative reach of the modern person with the availability of technology today and how it will affect our near future. As any good documentary, some really engaging concepts about human behavior are mentioned in the trailer with commentary from some pretty influential creative do-gooders. Needless to say, it’s sparked my interest and its projected release for early 2011, has been added to my calendar.

Anthony Schepperd animated/directed this insanely colorful and intricate music video for Blockhead’s ‘The Music Scene’ which is the title track off his latest release on Ninja Tune. The label is celebrating 20 years of beats n’ pieces keep an eye on their site for details around the release of rare material, mixes, videos and other treats.

I’ve seen this technique in still photography, but this was my first experience with the added element of time. The effect is pretty sweet! Reminds me of gazing up in into the night sky, trying to count the stars and realizing how tiny we are. Something like that.

The Raven is a perfect example of the type of films that should be picked up. It happened with District 9 and I supposedly in talks right now with Phillips short film project “The Gift.”

This is a good peek into a pretty unique moment in history and what some consider the foundation of the low brow art movement. I personally consider this era to be one of my largest unofficial inspirations as a creative person… Patti Astor along with some of the most important contemporary artists of the 20th century, took what most would regard as shit and turned it into something to aspire to. Although a lot of these people sort of embody the worst things about young people, they seem to have an uncanny ability to be some of the most influential and realistic people at the same time. Granted that’s both, a gross generalization and a uniquely romantic explanation of an entire era of young people hanging out and making cool shit to share with their friends, but honestly, what more do we need from life?

TRON Legacy, is undoubtedly going to be one of the most exciting releases of this year. Up until this moment, I’ve only seen a few teasers and a couple small articles about Daft Punk being involved in the score etc… The other night Celeste and I were at Alice in Wonderland IMAX 3D (which was also pretty damn good) and caught this trailer. I’d never been to IMAX or IMAX 3D so I almost shit my pants. The only sad bit of news is that this won’t be out until December of this year!

WOW, is about as compact and fantastical of an explanation as I can give you for what I bumped into earlier today. It might look digital, but its 100% stop motion comprised of more than 4000 individual shots. I have no idea how you even begin a process like this, and most definitely too much work for my ass… Nobody Beats the Drum is fully equipped with a clean site, unbelievable video and fancy beats that ooze bassy anthems. Im really under educated on their history right now so can’t really say much more than, ENJOY!!
