I thought that this short visit to Mike Perry‘s studio was a very good representation of his character… and shared a more candid side of not only Mike, but the work he does and the things that make him Mike Perry. Enjoy.

Nick Cross‘s short animation for Yo Gabba Gabba reminded me of why I love cartoons so much. It sparks the imagination while fitting quite nicely into a playful, adventure/music video category; something you don’t get a chance to see often.

Most Days is a music video directed by brothers Paul and Matt Layzell for the band Mazes. Paul and Matt wanted to take us back to those junior-high days of smoking too much weed, skating everyday, and puking after putting down half of your 40 ouncer, all captured on your moms handy cam! Sit back and sip on an ice cold brew whilst packing a freshy and enjoy this animated skate wizardry!

Two of my favorite Colorado artists / people, husband and wife duo Jeremy Pruitt (THINKMULE™) and Melanie Pruitt (Deadly Daisy) will be showing new works this Friday as part of their show titled Crawlspace, which runs April 1st through April 29th at The Black Book Gallery here in Denver.

Melanie will be showing a fresh round of highly intricate black & white ink drawings inspired by the human form and organic patterns, Jeremy will provide a nice balance with his bold, layered, type and folk inspired sculpture work. I get geeked out every time these two show new work in public, notoriously reclusive, it’s always a treat to see how they explore and evolve as artists.

Since I was a wee lad, I’ve had a sort of infatuation with lines. Over time, my interest and sometimes obsession with drawing and redrawing lines over and over again — drawing until that line was crisp enough to give a paper cut — has waxed and waned. I’ve gone from loving perfectly clean line work, to embracing the untethered rawness that a line with character, can sometimes have… Ghost Co’s work exemplifies my love for both ends of the spectrum, with a meticulously crafted collection of lines, colors and textures.

Gianmarco Magnani‘s work could be more easily defined as design, than illustration. His tight use of color and white space coupled with a keen eye for typography, give his prints a certain level of intelligence that I enjoy quite a bit.

Our friends, the 123KLAN, never seem to stop being creative. Check out their nifty, new demo reel… I think it does a great job capturing that same energy and simplicity that their V1 site did, all those years ago.
