Hesh Johnson has an adept ability to capture the raw energy, emotion and grit of a moment in a single frame. An ability tuned growing up in the working class Irish-American neighborhood ‘Southie’ in Boston. It is this environment that instilled a work ethic and empathy that is carried forward in his photography, systemically in output and approach. Shuffling through his book you will see Hesh’s real life experiences, frustrations, joys, hopes, and ambitions interwoven into the body of work he has diligently collected and captured over his career. A recent transplant to Denver, I’m very honored to have worked by his side in the past and extremely excited to have him now residing in Denver. I’ve seen this technique in still photography, but this was my first experience with the added element of time. The effect is pretty sweet! Reminds me of gazing up in into the night sky, trying to count the stars and realizing how tiny we are. Something like that.

I just recently returned home from a short break in Lake Como, Italy and thought I’d share a few shots I took along the way.

After a few weeks of healthy negotiations he has agreed to come on and provide a continuous stream of posts filled with insight, rants & rambles, along with other assorted bursts of creative joy.

Who is Chris Henley? Well he produces work under the name 24exp. His book filled with stunning creative & conceptual executions that wonder in and out of the realms of graphics & photography along with some of what’s in between. His work is firmly grounded in the mantra of part time creator, full time thinker. Chris is a designers designer… just the way we like ‘em!!!

Above all else he is a like minded peer that will provide insight into the ins and outs of creative life in the UK and abroad.

I recently stumbled across the work of Parisian photographer Denis Darzacq on the Designklub blog…. and haven’t been able to look away since. I’m really geeking out over his Hyper series, not sure what it is about the series that I find so captivating… subject matter, lighting, location, styling, all of the for mentioned… maybe I just like things that are a bit off.

Paul Octavious is the man behind the awesome Threadless pics. The rest of his portfolio has proven equally as awesome.
