Meomi makes my insides tingle with joy every time I peek at their site. It’s sort of like a little adventure. Or, maybe it’s just that giant tree house with all the little critters poking their heads out and giggling. Love it either way.

No doubt they’ve been hard at work since I’ve last visited their site. They just recently released a new Octonauts book, “The Octonauts & the Great Ghost Reef,” which looks funtastic. They also seem to have an animated series in the oven. Nice!

I’m not much for spending money on whatever, but when I see a good pair of sneakers or a book, it’s coming home with me. On my recent trip to Seattle / Portland I came across a multitude of options for both, sneakers and books resulting in a couple purchases here and there.

We Are The Friction

We Are The Friction is a new book by Jez Burrows and Lizzy Stewart that marries illustrators with storymakers. The book is featuring some incredibly talented illustrators like Frank Chimero, Ray Fenwick, and Micah Lidberg and pairing them with equally talented authors. My soon to be famous wife (Celeste Prevost aka designisfine) and collaborative creative partner in crime has recently been awarded placement in a new business card book entitled Business Cards 3: Designs on Saying Hello. 272 pages of inspiration and somewhere near 1000 illustrations and designs, the 3rd in the series is just as, if not better than the first two. New Books

I’ve been slackin’ on getting books lately so I figured in celebration of slackin’ on other stuff, I’d go out and at least grab some of those books on my list. The first book is Tattoo Art & Design, which is honestly, hardly in relation to tattoo artists or designers. The great thing about the book is not only the outstanding illustration that fills every page, but the long list of Victionary supported artists and designers. Some of these peeps include our good friends, inspirers and illustrative masterminds, i.e. EightHourDay, 123KLAN, Rolitoland, Rinzen, Superdeux, Pulco Mayo, Simon Oxley and a ton more. The second book is something of a jewel. Steve Powers. ESPO. That’s all I should really have to say. More than 100 pages of Powers amazing type work coupled with his hand painted illustration style. Pretty rad.

T.V. Worth Watching / Info Worth Sharing

I apologize for letting everyone marinate in the last post for the last few days. I had the intent of putting something else up after and never made it happen. So, to change the mood and share some happy fun cheery informationally splendid content, I offer you a peek into Current TV. Chances are the more “hip” and aware portion of you all have been reading and watching this for a while now. I finally just had the blessed experience of catching my first episodes last week. I DO NOT like television for the most part. I think it’s terribly useless and dramatically out dated in its content and its format. These were my glum emotions towards it about a week ago, I now can be proud to say, some friends (Tran & Josh) shared their T.V. and couch long enough to share this wondrous broadcast treat. It showed me that there is hope for television as a device to share information and offer people a chance to be involved. The show is comprised of mostly user generated content and gives viewers less shit and more info. It’s almost set up like a series of short infomercials or documentaries. Some of what is aired is chosen by viewers and other, by the producers. It puts television back in the hands of the intent and caring public, without bashing you in the face with subliminal corporate bias. There is also a really good website that goes along with the whole scheme as well. Make sure to check ‘em both out, share what you like, and maybe what you don’t like. I like it, maybe you will too?

Don’t forget, it’s just as much our responsibility to write, as it is your’s to participate in our blog (along with any other) in the form of comments and discussion. It’s what separates involved and productive citizens from evil consumers…
