Kami Kami ♪

46

I saw this on the news over here a while back and for some reason it popped into my head again. So I figured I might as well share the ridiculousness of the Kami Kami Sensor with the rest of you. Why should I have all the fun? Basically it’s a bite counter being used in some schools and I think even available for the public. But wait, there’s more. Not only does it count how many times you chew your food, it beeps when you hit 30 bites and then plays a melody at 1000 bites, YEAY! Unfortunately the way I eat it would probably take about three months to hear that melody….

The Power of 10

Watching this sort of micro documentary brings me back to my youth and gets me all inspired. The narrator’s voice, the music, even the material being presented makes me feel like being creative. It stands somewhere near the root of my original inspiration to be an artist and ultimately become a designer, plus this shit is just downright interesting!

Engineering Biofuel

Scientists are looking to create alternatives to the international food and oil crisis by engineering “self-digesting” plants. These plants would aid in the refining process and would most likely be inedible. I’m interested to see if this gets off the ground and where it might take us… For more info on this check out the NewScientist blog.

Large Hadron Collider

Some pretty amazing things are happening on the French border involving 7,000 physicists from more than 40 countries. It involves time travel, black holes and recreating the big bang. It should be getting turned on for the first time early this summer. It’s pretty amazing to say the least and luckily there are plenty of people talking about it so you shouldn’t have a hard time finding a ton of super intriguing information on it. I’ve been waiting patiently for this thing to get turned on and change science forever. I can only hope that this might spark close to the same enthusiasm in you.

You can fin info about the organization directing the project, CERN and the LHC, here. Here is an interesting article about a man trying to sue them for endangering the world (kinda funny).
