Anniversary Bash

tranjosh_vesta

Last night we celebrated Tran & Josh’s 11 year anniversary. We started our evening out at Vesta Dipping Grill (tasty and highly recommended) and finished up the evening with the romantic movie Sweeney Todd (also tasty and highly recommended). Congrats to both of you, we love you guys more than you’ve been married. Can we come over tonight? We have no food and we can bring the beer.

It’s Official!

Our good friends over at JoyEngine have finally unleashed the new site! The blog is now entirely driven by contributors, so expect constant content about all the local artsy fartsy events and happenings. They’re will be a good variety of other stuff as well, like rad design links, the newest freshest kicks, and that “funny video you saw on YouTube last night.” Lifter Baron and I will be over there dropping some random hotness for the the blog as well. Ch-check check it out.

Lifter Baron Site Updates

I had a few minutes to add my new logo and some not yet added content to my site today. I am no where near being finished and am slowly planning a complete overhaul of the entire site for the new year. I doubt I’ll have it all done by the beginning of January but I will most definitely have all of the new content in there within the next few weeks. I am also attempting to get my wearable art line deemed MEGA, up and running in the next month as well. I’ll keep you all posted on progress of those projects and some of the other top secret things to come for 2008!

Twin Cities, Baby

I’m out of town! Since this morning I have been helping out at Zeus Jones, a new studio founded by a few friends from Fallon including Rob White and Adrian Ho. Thanks to everyone at Zeus for the hospitality and especially Brad for bringing me out here and commuting me around in his hot ride. I am really pumped about my visit and can’t wait to check the city out. I’m not really sure what I’ll manage to squeeze out of the city over the next few days but I’ll definitely keep you guys posted. If anyone’s got suggestions, send them my way.

Coverage & Shameless Shout Outs…

Unfortunately today wasn’t much of an exciting day other than having the opportunity to clean my font folders and catching myself on DYT & Designcentre. Design You Trust is an online magazine that showcases all sorts of creative people and their effort towards growing and helping embrace the culture as a whole. As far as online love, I’ve been shown a great deal… I think its rad that people in other countries are diggin’ my style, now if I could get a few more influential people around here to befriend my whole program, I’d be good. Some of the other people who have showcased my work lately are: DesignFlakes, Pristina, Andrew Ackermann, Aisle One, DirtyMouse and the Denver Egotist. I think it’s cool to brag about yourself, but I think it’s cooler to share what these guys & gals are up to as well. So, show them a little love and swing by their sites if you feel the urge, they deserve some attention as well.

I Heart Birds

In the midst of all of the outlandish excitement today, I came across a great little vector illustration I was working on for the Edition Magazine project. I’m not completely sure of the direction I’m going on the illustration, but have been playing with a lot of little bits and pieces to see if anything jumps out at me. As I am sure you can all assume, nothing has jumped out quite yet and I am still in my “creative process” on that whole thing. The funny thing was the little birdy and my growing infatuation for the word “poop” seemed to have a nice little connection. Not that I’m some sort of nasty little 5th grader that plays in the toilet when no one is looking, I just think it’s one of those words that has a great deal of usage in the modern world. So, to stretch my creativity, I played with the combination of the two and came to create the great little shirt idea you see here. I don’t know really, maybe I can use this for a Threadless submission or something. We’ll see what the “fans” think first, maybe it’ll just be the next Lifter Baron shirt to hit the shops.

Made in Bunch.

Fine™ & Lifter Baron for Bunch

On our ever so extensive adventures through lust, love and peril on the electric ride we call the internet, we came across another interesting submission project. This project was for Bunch, a small flourishing design studio that started itself up in London and has branched out into Asia and Croatia. The concept was simple, to create a mark or logo using the existing version of the identity and the theme “Made in Bunch” for inspiration. The submission should reflect the designer’s reaction to the theme and be open in design style and medium. Overall the team (Bunch) is looking to refresh their identity and sought the un-bias opinion of their fellow designers. It sounded pretty cool to us so we gave it a wack. The project is ongoing and has been for some time now, so we hoped we could slide in before the doors shut. It looks like Celeste did, and I’m hoping to make it as well.

I really just wanted to say THANK YOU! to all of those who have participated in recognizing my efforts and sharing my work with all of the other lovely cyber peeps. I appreciate it and hope to contact you all personally and say what up! You guys know who you are… Thanks again.

Perfecto-Destructo

Lifter Baron Shirts

For those of you that know me or “follow” my stuff, you might have noticed that I have fully transformed and switched my identity over from Perfecto-Destructo to Lifter Baron. I have been Lifter Baron for a while and Perfecto-Destructo was a sort of place holder for something else I am in the process of planning, so I finally had the opportunity to make the change and did. Now that I am officially on the web as Lifter Baron and my site is all up and running, I am taking steps towards starting to produce Tees and other little hand out paraphernalia. That project will be under the name Perfecto-Destructo and so on. It will still be run primarily by myself, but it won’t be related at all to my client work. I will keep you all updated on its progress throughout its development and be coming up with an official “re-launch” date. I like to keep most of my ideas quite close to me and nearly secret in order to keep it a sort of “dream project” and let it naturally develop. By no means am I aiming to do anything consumer driven. I like to think of it as shit I like, and if you like it too, you can buy it. Some of my first attempts at pulling screens and designing personal shirts are promos for myself, a.k.a Lifter Baron. I won’t say too much more about it, I’ll just share a couple pics.

A Huge Thanks!!! And a Little Intro!

I wanted to send along a huge thanks to Rob and Celeste for for putting me on! Denver is extremely lucky to be graced with their presence. It’s rare that you see two young people who are both naturally talented and genuinely willing to invest in building up the design community. I consider myself lucky to call them friends, and hope they stay put here in Denver for awhile! But I have no doubt that they will be well received no matter where they land… Seriously, they rock shit!

and a little intro…

Name: Josh Wills
Graphic Design makes my heart smile :)

I am currently working at texturemedia as an Art Director, and I am also the co-owner of The Fabric Lab a Denver based clothing boutique selling clothes exclusively made by local creatives, which I co-founded with my wife Tran. My wife and I also hold down a small clothing label called Hazell, all garments are either handmade by my wife and/or hand silkscreened by myself. That’s a quick little download of myself… and now onto far more interesting posts!
