Mike Perry – Studio Visit
I thought that this short visit to Mike Perry‘s studio was a very good representation of his character… and shared a more candid side of not only Mike, but the work he does and the things that make him Mike Perry. Enjoy.

I just came across a pretty solid album from Noisia today, packed full of violently aggressive drum samples and swells of destructive bass. If you’re looking for something to tear the veneer off the walls or to help you get through an overnighter, Split Atoms is the album.
The track above features Foreign Beggars, who is also worth a listen if you’re unfamiliar.

I’m not particularly wrapped up in the “streetwear” scene, but always find myself excited to hear what local designer and label owner, Benny Gold has to say about design, motivation and the San Fancisco community. Check out what Benny had to say in a recent conversation with Hypebeast.
Don’t forget to to swing by Benny’s new space, at 16th & Albion, on the 30th, for the grand opening soiree. More information on Benny’s blog.
The brand new ARTCRANK site—designed by none other than me—recently went live. The site now provides even more access to news, information, photos and videos from the events and about the contributors as well as other bike / art related greatness.
I feel like this was a pretty big step forward in terms of design and usability, and quite enjoyed working with the talented Scott Agrimson, who built the site, as well as the wise and focused direction of Charles Youel, the founder and curator.
Nick Cross‘s short animation for Yo Gabba Gabba reminded me of why I love cartoons so much. It sparks the imagination while fitting quite nicely into a playful, adventure/music video category; something you don’t get a chance to see often.

Our good friends, Nate and Katie (Eight Hour Day) recently had the opportunity to speak at Creative Mornings, while in Los Angeles, during their year long, work-abroad adventure.
Eric Smith’s, Live Now project caught the attention of a long list of publishers, bloggers, designers and illustrators. His project has since grown into a new extension—a 220 page book, packed full of inspirational quotes and accompanying artwork from more than 60 artists.
Celeste just got her copy of Live Now in the mail, and after a quick peek, I can easily say it’s worth grabbing.
Some noteworthy collaborators include: Adam Garcia, Mikey Burton, Richard Perez, Ty Wilkins, Brent Couchman, Luke Bott, Jonathan Calugi, Emil Kozak, Gemma Correl, Celeste Prevost, Brian Gossett, Erik Marinovich and plenty more…
Pick up pre-order via anyone of the stockists (list on Live Now site) or hold out for the official drop in May.

Most Days is a music video directed by brothers Paul and Matt Layzell for the band Mazes. Paul and Matt wanted to take us back to those junior-high days of smoking too much weed, skating everyday, and puking after putting down half of your 40 ouncer, all captured on your moms handy cam! Sit back and sip on an ice cold brew whilst packing a freshy and enjoy this animated skate wizardry!

Two of my favorite Colorado artists / people, husband and wife duo Jeremy Pruitt (THINKMULE™) and Melanie Pruitt (Deadly Daisy) will be showing new works this Friday as part of their show titled Crawlspace, which runs April 1st through April 29th at The Black Book Gallery here in Denver.
Melanie will be showing a fresh round of highly intricate black & white ink drawings inspired by the human form and organic patterns, Jeremy will provide a nice balance with his bold, layered, type and folk inspired sculpture work. I get geeked out every time these two show new work in public, notoriously reclusive, it’s always a treat to see how they explore and evolve as artists.
Crawlspace at Black Book Gallery opens April 1st @ 7PM : 555 Santa Fe Dr. Denver, Colorado 80204
Listening to Michael Wolff (Wolff Olins) talk about creativity as he makes tea or goes on a walk in the rain, is quite the perfect way to capture his decades of experience in a few short moments; intricacies and all.
If you haven’t seen it, check out the Intel Visual Life profile video for the Sartorialist, that we posted, a month or so back.
Recently, UK artist, Eine made his way to San Francisco for a solo exhibition at White Walls Gallery. During his stay in the city, he covered the streets with his type murals and sayings. Check out what he had to say about his come up, and his time in SF.
Rosario Florio‘s work has a kind of dry fun to it, that I find interesting. It fits into a very form based, design-thinking that I’ve grown increasingly fond of over the years. I’ve sort of unintentionally learned to embrace it within my own work, without any clear indication of why… Regardless, Rosario’s collection of projects possess a certain quality, that I’ve come to thoroughly enjoy, in Design, as of late; specifically her FWD Grotesk typeface.
An always fantastic selection of clean and precisely crafted type treatments and illustrations from André Beato.
