Music is a huge inspiration for me especially when I’m in the process of creating… designing… drawing… hell I listen to music when I drop deuces! Rootdown Radio is a mix tape in blog format that I’ve been following for a year or two now… Every Monday Mr. Werks drops a new mix online, blending together underground samplings, bangers, and classic joints from the golden era of hip hop! This reminds me of the days when I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by DJ’s and b-boys… before CD’s existed…. every time I would run into one of my friends… they’d always slip their latest mix tape into my hands…which would go straight into the walkman… and then eventually make its rounds around the crew! Those days are long gone… but this is the closest thing that I’ve seen to the way HIP HOP used to be! I love it… and wish more people would concern themselves with spreading their love and appreciation for music… versus trying to turn a quick buck on some half assed shit.

Werks taste in Hip Hop is very similar to my own… and I think that I’ve pretty much downloaded all of the goodness available in the archive section… he also has a blog roll with design related news on the front end of the site! BIG UPS to Mr. Werks and ROOTDOWN RADIO! Long live HIP HOP… thanks for helping to keep the flame burning bright!
