The 30/30
March 3rd, 2008

I’ve just uploaded my first piece to the 30/30… and I have a few others in the works. Hopefully I’ll be caught up here shortly? For those of you not familiar with the 30 days 30 pieces website. The concept is pretty simple… turn off your computer and get your hands dirty. Spend 5 minutes, a half hour or few hours using your imagination and creativity… your medium of choice… be it a pencil, a brush, camera, or your body.
The 30/30 is the brainchild of David Schell, creative director at texturemedia, my boss, and all around the sexiest man without a beard! Dave had been going back and forth talking with friends about working on paintings, illustrations, and so on… but with busy schedules it seemed that personal artwork always took a back seat to client work and life in general. So he came up with the idea of committing to a painting a day for an entire month… he built a website w/ the help of flash master Miles Fenn and encouraged as many people as he could to participate. Personally it was awesome for me to stand back at the end of 30 days and look over an entire body of work… short sweet little bursts of creativity.
The idea moving forward with the website is to make it a monthly engagement… participants, themes, and the number of days might change from month to month, but the site will continue to grow and foster intimate relations outside of the almighty CPU! There is already a healthy amount of international peeps lined up for next month… Brazil is making a strong showing… Anyone out there who might be interested in participating in next months 30/30… should email Dave through the 30/30 website.

Im super stoked to see what sort of tasty and delicious stuff comes out of this little experiment. Lots of rad artists are involved and it has a certain level of challenge involved in the guidelines too! Yeh
