Via Vengeance

January 7th, 2008 dubs

Shane Ocell is Via Vengeance a one-man doom metal band… and he fucking shreds! Up on stage Shane mans a seven string guitar, a drum kit, and vocals… simultaneously!… gnar! The rhythms kind of remind me of early Clutch… before they went jam band…. with a little bit of older Helmet thrown in for good measure. But his vocals are quite a bit more aggressive and blood curdling… if you dial in the lyrics you can understand why… Shane is penning songs that are drawn from real life experiences… which in a today’s world of faux bling… is super refreshing.

Check out the video above for a little sampling… you can hop onto his myspace page for more video clips and even a few more songs. Watching his videos…. I’m not only really fucking impressed but inspired! I can only imagine what could be accomplished visually with this much dedication and focus.

Via Vengeance : Dieography
You can pick up the album on iTunes $10 or even better… you can get the physical album with layout & design by Josh Graham for 8.99 at CD Baby … iTunes overpriced perhaps? Either way show him some love!

Wow thank you for the positive review! I shoot the videos for shane and I would like to ask if I may where did you first hear of his one man band Via Vengeance?
Thumbs up for your insight and appreciation of the arts too!
As far as the iTunes pricing being higher than the Physical CD (which I will point out includes PC enhanced materials and interviews = better bigger deal in) I will need to find out what can be done about that.

I know Shane from his days in Denver… long… long ago. I’m really impressed with all that he has his hands in! We need more people like Shane in the this world… people that are willing to step up and bring about change….vs. sitting around and bitching about it… even if it means you go at it alone! Do work!

Any plans to tour…..?… If Via Vengeance makes it through Denver be sure to let me know!!!

The physical CD is a much better deal!… and my angst towards iTunes goes beyond them being overpriced… but it is still a great way to distribute such good music to the Masses!
